ready for a break.

I think it’s time for a break from Facebook. I’ve been persuaded not to give up the account altogether – after all, the reality of Facebook as a communications medium is not to be denied. But I find myself increasingly less amused and more provoked by what I find in my news feed, and not in good ways. I have friends across the political/ideological spectrum, which is good. I’m generally down for a good debate. But what can be interesting and insightful face-to-face often turns polarizing online, and I pretty much never see minds changed or consensus reached. We know what we know and believe what we believe, and that’s kinda that.

So I have double-checked my notification settings to make sure I don’t miss anything truly critical, and am using Better Facebook to completely hide the news feed. It’s break time…
