Copenhagen 2023: Culinary and Cultural

Our visit to Copenhagen was a delightful immersion into Danish culture, marked by culinary highlights and explorations of the city’s landmarks.

Thursday: Arrival

Our journey began at the airport, with a bit of a wait at Hub 51 before an easy boarding and flight.

Friday: First Impressions and Fine Dining

We landed early and took the train into the city center, thanks to pre-bought passes. After checking into our hotel, we walked past Tivoli, through a square hosting a St. Patrick’s Day fest, and up Strøget, exploring the main area. Dinner was a memorable experience at Den Vandrette, featuring pork terrine, beer cheese leeks on toast, fried cod with tartar sauce, pork and cabbage kebab, and blood orange Swiss roll, accompanied by a Saperavi blend and Vin jaune. We then walked back to the hotel.

Saturday: Castle Visit and Culinary Heights

Saturday was marked by poor sleep, but a “pretty darn good” breakfast at the hotel lifted our spirits. We visited Rosenborg Castle. Lunch was an amazing four-hour culinary journey at Geranium. We returned to the hotel to relax after the extensive meal.

Sunday: Nørrebro Exploration and Canal Views

Sunday started very early with breakfast at the hotel. We took the metro to the Nørrebro area and spent time walking around the neighborhood. Lunch was at Selma, where we enjoyed herring three ways, grilled pork neck, yellow split pea “risotto,” and celeriac. The afternoon included a canal boat tour, and we concluded with a coffee stop at CUB.
